student led-initiative
WHO ARE WE?Colour Away Covid is a student-led initiative founded in Hong Kong in 2020, aimed at tackling the COVID-19 pandemic with creativity — and an audience of low-income families and underprivileged children. Over time, our initiative has branched to Malaysia. Our projects have consisted of a mask design competition, where we have raised over HKD120,000 to produce over 65,000 masks to low-income families. In 2021, we have sent over 2500 postcards to 17 hospitals and the fire services department in Hong Kong aimed at sharing our gratitude to frontline and essential workers.

As Hong Kong's COVID-19 situation eases, our friends in Malaysia need our help. This project goes back to our fundraising roots, helping the children and the White Flag Movement. More importantly, students that do not have access to educational materials and wifi required to attend online classes. Our mission is to raise awareness to the situation and give these children the ability to continue their education in times of need.
To ensure that underprivileged students have access to education and other related equipment during times of crisis, and to provide support to their families who have suffered greatly during the pandemic. |

After initiating the Mask Design Competition, we started a postcard campaign with the help of Kids4Kids’ Action for a Cause to thank frontline workers and express our gratitude for their hard work during the pandemic. Over this year, we have held stalls at Bookazine shops and collaborated with schools like Bradbury and Renaissance College, sending over 2500 postcards to 17 hospitals and the fire services department in Hong Kong. We even gained traction on RTHK’s radio “Social Takeover” and was featured on the South China Morning Post!
